About Us

We are a group of enthusiastic Fly Fishermen with family members who share us with our passion.
We enjoy talking about fishing, sharing experiences and learning from each other.
Fly Fishing is not hard, there is no mystery to it, and we can show you the basic items you need to start fishing with and teach you all the skills you need to fly fish confidently in any situation.
More importantly come see us before you go out and spend money on the wrong items, because we could save you money by buying the right equipment first time.
Please Note: We do not sell equipment, therefore our advice is impartial to makes/models or brands. No matter how little or how much experience you have, tips and techniques can be learned from anyone, even the youngest person.
Like life there are many ways to do the same thing, and not everyone does it the same way, so sometimes just listening to other people talking about their way of doing things can give you an idea or solution to your issue. For example when tying flies, although we may all belong to the same club, and we may or may not fish the same way, we often have our very own ways of tying a particular fly, what counts is that it works for you.
At the Southland Fly Fishing Club, we enjoy sharing our knowledge and experiences with others, like where we go and why we enjoy a particular place.
A number of our members enjoy assisting with running courses to help others enjoy the sport we are so passionate about (at your level of course).
The clubs aim is to always provide what members are looking for to the best of our ability.
So come along to a meeting, and don't be afraid to say what you would like assistance with, our pleasure comes from seeing others learning and getting more enjoyment from fly fishing.
